WHITE CHOCOLATE SUGAR COOKIE SQUARES

It’s the holiday season which means it’s the perfect time to start baking all your favorite treats. Just a couple weeks ago my aunt made us a delectable loaf of pumpkin bread, and recently for Thanksgiving I baked a spiced apple crisp and a classic sweet potato casserole. And don’t get me started on all the cookie varieties I get to bake this month—gingerbread cookies, thumbprint cookies, chocolate crinkle cookies, and more. But there’s one holiday cookie among them all that’s especially quintessential, and that’s the beloved sugar cookie. They’re tasty, they’re easy to make, they can be stamped into whatever shape you want and decorated to your heart’s content. And my friends at Ghirardelli Chocolate have recently sent me a new creation of theirs that packs this all into one perfect little treat—their White Chocolate Sugar Cookie Squares.

The white chocolate from which these are made is silky, and each square has a bit of sugar cookie crunch and festive green and red sprinkles. The sugar cookie flavor profile is very accurately captured, and made all the better by the white chocolate’s contribution. And what makes these perfect for this time of year is not only the seasonally-appropriate sugar cookie taste, but also that now is the time for hosting parties and spending time with friends and family. These squares are a great choice for serving at gatherings where they can be offered by themselves as a high-quality holiday treat or added with other items like this dessert board I made with the squares and their sugar cookie counterparts. I’m even thinking of stuffing my family’s stockings with them this year, which would be sure to light them up. Either way, these chocolates are a fantastic fit for a variety of occasions and a splendid gift for anyone this holiday season.
